    Moldovan Farmer Survey Results

    In the framework of the Conference on “Smallholder Inclusion in Agri-Food Value Chains” on September 12, 2024, an electronic survey (mentimeter) was conducted at several stages of the event. It enabled the 300+ (small) farmers to actively participate and react to the presentations made by the international and local senior officials.

    Smallholder Inclusion in Agri-food Value Chains

    The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of the Republic of Moldova (MAIA), in partnership with the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the German-Moldovan Agricultural Policy Dialogue (www.apd-moldova.de) project, hosted a landmark conference on strengthening small farmers‘ inclusion in agri-food value chains on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the Palace of the Republic in Chisinau.

    Consultations for the Chamber of Agriculture

    APD Moldova is supporting the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) to establish a Chamber of Agriculture in Moldova. Following the study tour for Moldovan agriculture representatives on June 2-7, which was organized by APD Moldova together with Chemonics (USAID) and showcased best practices of the Chambers of Agriculture in Germany and Austria, the consultations in 10 rural regions of Moldova take place from July 4-11, 2024.

    Study Tour in Germany and Austria, June 2-7

    The first APD study tour for Moldovan agriculture representatives went to Germany and Austria from June 2-7, 2024. The 13-headed Moldovan delegation was led by Sergiu Gherciu, the Secretary General of the Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA), and comprised farmers, a representative of the Agriculture Committee of the Moldovan Parliament, and media representatives.

    A full day Workshop on EU Harmonization

    On Saturday, May 18, 2024, the German-Moldovan Agricultural Policy Dialogue (APD Moldova), in partnership with the EU-Moldova Association Project and the EU-funded High-Level Advisor for Agriculture organized a full-day workshop on EU Harmonization of agriculture and rural development (Chapter 11 of the Acquis) for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA).

    1st EU Mentoring Group

    The APD Moldova Project functions as the Secretariat for the EU Mentoring Group with the objective to foster the transfer of knowledge and experience from EU Member States to the staff of the Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI), the paying agency AIPA, and the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA).
