Supporting Moldova in Applying State Aid in the Fisheries and Aquaculture Sector

On 27–28 October 2026, APD Moldova organised a two-day workshop dedicated to state aid in the fisheries and aquaculture sector, as part of our ongoing support for Moldova’s preparations for EU accession under Chapter 13 (fisheries and aquaculture) of the EU body of law.

Together with Walter Dübner, expert in agriculture and fisheries, APD convened representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA), the Agency for Intervention and Payments for Agriculture (AIPA), the Competition Council, sectoral associations and the Research Institute. The workshop explored European support instruments and their practical application, drawing on experience from Austria and Bavaria, Germany.

Active participation and lively discussions throughout both days provided a valuable opportunity to exchange perspectives on developing support measures suited to Moldova’s fisheries and aquaculture sector in view of their EU integration efforts. The highly positive feedback collected through Mentimeter highlighted participants’ appreciation of Walter’s expertise and the relevance of the discussions.

To bring the workshop’s key messages to a wider audience, we also recorded a short interview with Walter and produced two video reels. Through these exchanges, we continue to support institutional capacity building and dialogue between public authorities, sector representatives and European experts on Moldova’s path towards EU integration.
