2nd Moldovan Agri-food Partnership Platform

APD Moldova supported the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) of the Republic of Moldova in organizing the 2nd Agri-Food Partnership Platform on January 18, 2025, in Berlin. Held in the framework of the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) and International Green Week 2025, the 2nd Agri-food Partnership Platform was hosted by the German Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), Mr. Cem Özdemir.

The joint patronage for the 2nd Agri-food Partnership Platform was held by Madame Minister Ludmila Catlabuga from MAIA and Raimund Jehle, Regional Programme Leader for Europe and Central Asia and Representative to Moldova from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The event benefited from the active participation of Ministers and high-level representatives of EU member states, DG AGRI of the EU Commission, and international finance institutions, above all, the World Bank.
The purpose of the 2nd Agri-food Partnership Platform was to (i) inform the members of Moldova’s progress on and challenges of EU harmonization, (ii) solidify the partnership with the existing Platform members, and (iii) invite new members to join the Agri-food Partnership Platform. It reminded the participants that the German-Moldovan Agricultural Policy Dialogue (APD Moldova) was formed following the initial Agri-food Partnership Platform on October 6, 2023. As one of the key instruments of the joint declaration, which was signed by the initial 7 members of the Agri-food Partnership Platform, the APD Moldova project functions as the Secretariat for the EU Mentoring Group, which convenes EU experts on identified topics on the implementation of the EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) to the Moldovan agricultural administration.
The GFFA and Green Week 2025 also provided a valuable opportunity for the newly appointed Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of the Republic of Moldova, Mrs. Ludmila Catlabuga. Bilateral meetings with the also newly appointed EU Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Christophe Hansen as well as with several delegations from the EU member states and candidate countries enabled valuable discussions on challenges connected with EU harmonization.
