The Kick-Off event, hosted at the Government building attracted more than 50 guests, including representatives from Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA), the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA), the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA), and other key development partners deeply involved within the Moldovan agricultural sector.

Funded by the German Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and implemented by the Consortium of Berlin Economics and DLG International, the APD Moldova plays a crucial role in supporting the MAIA in addressing the challenges within the EU accession process and to facilitate the alignment of Moldova’s agricultural policies with EU standards.

Over the course of three years, APD Moldova will be responsible for the implementation of 27 different activities. These activities will include a comprehensive range of initiatives on harmonization of the Chapters 11 (agriculture and rural development), 12 (food safety), and 13 (fisheries) of the EU Acquis, such as screening support, capacity-building, awareness-raising on the EU Common Agricultural Policy, programming, and monitoring support.

During the event, four speakers, including Mr. Vladimir Bolea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry; Mrs. Margret Uebber, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Moldova; Mr. Dieter Goertz representing the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL); and Mr. Hans Kordik, Team Leader of the APD Moldova project, shared valuable insights in regards to the significance of fostering a strong dialogue and exchanging experiences between EU member states and Moldova on the EU integration. Their discussions aimed to explain key strategies and insights facilitating Moldova’s successful integration into the European Union, by strengthening a robust foundation for future collaborative initiatives.

Another crucial objective of the APD Moldova project, in order to promote the exchange of knowledge and facilitate mutual learning, is to facilitate Academic Cooperation between universities in Germany and Moldova. This initiative aims to cultivate a dynamic exchange of expertise and insights, outlining the strengths of both countries to drive sustainable development and innovations within the agriculture sector.

The initiation of the “German-Moldovan Agricultural Policy Dialogue” project marks a better and resilient future for Moldova’s agricultural sector.
