APD Moldova Bridges the Agricultural Policy Dialogue between Moldova and the EU

The German-Moldovan Agricultural Policy Dialogue (APD Moldova), capitalizing on its unique agricultural network, continued to connect Moldovan agricultural administration with EU Member States, creating opportunities for policy exchange, technical cooperation and practical support for the EU agricultural reform agenda of Moldova.

In this context, on 9 September 2026 in Vienna, APD Moldova Team Leader Hans Kordik facilitated high-level meetings between the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA), Sergiu Gherciu, and the Secretary General of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management (BMLUK), Dr. Johannes Abentung. The officials explored opportunities for deepening technical and institutional cooperation between the two Ministries.

The discussions focused on key priorities of Moldova’s EU integration and agricultural reform agenda, including the establishment and development of Chambers of Agriculture a topic where APD Moldova offered extensive in recent years, cattle breeding, drought management, energy challenges and fertilizer shortages.

The productive discussions and ideas of future projects discussed in Vienna underline APD Moldova’s hub role not only in knowledge transfer and capacity building but also as a connector of Moldovan agricultural administration and EU partners, which is essential on the path towards EU accession.
