It is considered one of the most important international conferences and plays a significant role in shaping the agriculture and agri-food sectors worldwide. This years’ GFFA focused on food security, which was discussed during several panels comprising Ministers from around the globe as well as international organizations.

For the Republic of Moldova, the international event was of paramount importance. For the first time, Moldova showcased their agri-food products (e.g. wines, nuts, sweets, ice cream) to international businesses and consumers at the Green Week. The extended team of the APD Moldova Project joined forces to provide invaluable support to Moldova’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Mr. Vladimir Bolea. During a side-event organized by the FAO, the APD team provided support in advertising the event and attracting investors to participate.

Another side-event was organized at the GFFA to facilitate an exchange among all the APD extended teams, which included representatives from APD teams of Ukraine, Western Balkans, and Uzbekistan. This provided a valuable opportunity for networking and sharing insights on agricultural policies and practices across different regions. APD Teams engaged in discussions learning from each other’s experiences, by promoting and implementing the best agricultural development strategies in their own country. Another notable aspect was the meeting between APD Moldova extended team and the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG RRD). The main focus was encouraging a dialogue between these two and discussing on how to improve the long-term viability of the agri-food systems, required to adhere to EU regulations.

As Moldova makes significant progress towards EU accession, events such as the GFFA serve as crucial milestones in consolidating the cooperation, exchanging knowledge, networking and fostering sustainable growth in the agricultural sector.
