A week of Lectures on the EU Common Agricultural Policy and Food Safety at TUM
From November 4-8, 2024, the Technical University of Moldova, in partnership with APD Moldova, organized a series of lectures on the European Union’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and EU requirements for food safety.

Over 160 students and professors from the Faculty of Agricultural, Forestry, and Environmental Sciences and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, benefited from the lectures of the renowned Professor of the Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development at the University of Göttingen, Germany, Dr. Stephan von Cramon-Taubadel, and the international expert on EU Food Safety, Mr. Richard Moody. Their lectures provided (i) an introduction on the organization and purpose of the main EU institutions, (ii) the drivers shaping the development of the CAP, (iii) the “greening” of the CAP, (iv) EU food and feed safety requirements, and (v) the implementation of food safety standards.
The lectures enabled students to engage with the lecturers, asking questions and demonstrating a keen interest in the topics discussed. Following the successful completion of a final test, participants were awarded certificates to recognize their achievement.
The academic cooperation promoted by APD Moldova, aligns with the Republic of Moldova’s efforts to prepare the next generation of professionals in the agri-food sector for EU accession.
