Conference on "Smallholder Inclusion in Agri-food Value Chains in Moldova"

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the German-Moldovan Agricultural Policy Dialogue (APD Moldova) are organizing a conference on September 12, 2024, dedicated to the challenges and opportunities for Moldovan smaller farmers. The event will bring together experts, representatives of public authorities, associations, and farmers to discuss the future of the sector and the identification of appropriate solutions.

The agricultural sector of the Republic of Moldova is in a period of transformation, with promising prospects due to European integration. However, small and medium-sized farmers face significant challenges.

The objective of the conference is to identify potential solutions and stimulate a dialogue between stakeholders to support the development of Moldovan agriculture and the integration of small and medium-sized farmers into agri-food value chains.

Keynote speakers:

Vladimir BOLEA is the Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry;
Cem ÖZDEMIR is the German Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture;
Vasile SARBAN is State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry;
Mihail DUMITRU is the Deputy Director-General for Rural Development and Research at DG AGRI of the European Commission;
Raimund JEHLE is Regional Programme Leader for Europe and Central Asia of the Food and Agriculture Organization and FAO Representative in the Republic of Moldova;
Dacian CIOLOS is former Member of the European Parliament, former Romanian Prime Minister, and former European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development;
Hermann SCHULTES is former President of the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture;
Katalin LUDVIG is Deputy Regional Initiative Coordinators for Empowering Smallholders, Family Farms and Youth at the FAO Regional Office;
Anne-Kathrin MEISTER is Deputy Chairwoman of the Federation of German Rural Youth Association;
Aurelia BONDARI is the Executive Director of the Federation of Agricultural Producers in Moldova (FARM);
Dumitru ORESCU is an arable and horticulture farmer from Criuleni.
